Self Love is artwork that is bright, unique, and designed with acrylic paint on canvas. The free-form black lines really make these cohesive colors of red, white, orange, lime, and mint green pop. The design idea came from the beautiful colors on a bathing suit from a magazine. I love how the colors are so bold, harmonious, and strong which made me want to paint something using the same color scheme. I really enjoyed making this piece using simple shapes and filling them in with no direction or concept in mind. Getting lost in the brush strokes with vivid colors allowed shapes and angles to emerge. It wasn’t until the varnishing stage when I turned the canvas for the final coat that the shapes came together for me. This piece is about body image. We are not perfect and we shouldn’t let the media, magazines, and the internet tell us what we should look like. No matter our shape, color, or unique characteristics, we are all amazing people who need a little more self love so give yourself a big hug, you deserve it.
This abstract artwork is signed and varnished with UVL protection to create a barrier against moisture, dust, sun graying, and fading effects. A frame is not needed for this modern artwork since the edges are painted for a finished look. The artwork is ready to hang or simply set on a shelf or sideboard as an accent piece.
