A trip to Sedona, Arizona, that I took with a friend years ago inspired me to create this acrylic artwork on paper. I wanted to portray the happiness and amazing experiences there. It was hot and sunny the whole time we were there. Hiking around dangerous ancient ruins and cave dwellings was exciting and made me feel like a young explorer. I couldn’t believe the handmade stove, bed, and fingerprint evidence left behind in the clay from hundreds of years ago were still present. It is mind-blowing that a cultural past truly lived off the land. The Santa Fe/Pueblo and Southwestern style homes and shops add a unique spirit to this quaint town with a lot of history which is present in this piece.
I hope this artwork of my experience in Arizona will brighten up a room and remind you of the delicate paths humans took to survive and how important communities are to our survival today.
